There's a few things to understand first. The Chinese economy is based in Capitalism. With a twist. They invest for political gain. Europe has suffered a great setback with the UK leaving. The EU has just made a very large deal with China. China now can disregard the agreements made with President Trump. And, America is stuck paying more.

Iran continues to deny making high grade plutonium for weapons. It's for energy, even though they produce oil & sell it to Europe.

Nobody actually pays money to the UN, paying their fair share has to do with military spending commitments. We made no gains with Chinese companies since tariffs are just a tax on the consumer.  Importers pay the tariffs not the exporter, and they pass it off to the consumer.  Pulling out of the Iran deal made it worse, not better.  There was no advantage, we did nothing to slow their progress by pulling out.
