They have bigger priorities. You know if you're made redundant there? The welfare you would receive is the equivalent of £8 a month.

Yes,I think, it is much better than  to pretend you have a democracy which they're doing now

If a majority of Russians wish to have the monarchy reinstated, they could. There are descendants of the Romanovs available to take the job.

It's entirely up to them, of course, but I don't think the country needs any sort of monarchy. They are still struggling to get past their long experience of autocracy and dictatorship and not making a very good job of it. (No surprise, when that's pretty much all they've known.)  I'm not sure they'd want to bother with a fully constitutional monarchy, and anything else would simply create more trouble than they already have.

A constitutional monarchy should have evolved naturally from 1905 on and probably would have done so -- in fact, was in the process of doing so -- if World War I hadn't intervened.  It's far too late now.

I might point out, however, that if the monarchy were to be restored, the old rules of succession could easily be discarded. The Russians wouldn't have to observe the rules that were in place in 1918, and they could select anyone they liked -- even a non-Romanov -- to take the throne.

  • Not at all. The end of the monarchy was one of the most beautiful things to happen as a consequence of the Great October Socialist Revolution.

They already seem to have King Vladimir. But he could not be Tsar over countries that ceded from the former Soviet Union, that formed the former Russian Empire. The Russians are free to change the constitution (as Putin has already done) as they wish.
