Do people expect princesses and Royal wives to be beautiful ?
If not beautiful, then atleast pretty or attractive.
Beauty obviously has nothing to do with Royalty, but do people still expect a princess to look like a princess.
I think fairytales and descriptions of beautiful Queens from the past, and obviously the pomp and glamour create this expectation.

Some people expect it and some don’t. I must say there’s been an improvement since they quit marrying their quadruple cousins.

its funny becasue you can't help who u get a crush on or fall in love with. And often theses people may not even be that good looking.

On the whole, the British Princess'es /wives were quite beautiful, the Queen and her sister were, Princess Anne was incredibly beautiful in her 20s/30s and is still very attractive now, Zara (Royal wife) got her great looks from her mother, and Kate, Meghan, Sophie are all beautiful too, only Camzilla and the Yorks are a disappontment

In the past, Kings expected the women chosen for them (usually political alliances) to be half decent, but in the main these days, as long as the marriage works for the individuals, I think people have more pressing things to worry about.

Traditionally yes, and in part because of fairy tales and so forth, as you point out. However, most royal wives in history were not beauties. Most queens were not beautiful.
In the modern world, princes have more options than they once did, which means that they can wait to fall in love before they marry. Because of their assets (their wealth, their positions), they can usually pick and choose among a number of attractive women when deciding whom to date. So, a royal wife today is more likely to be better-looking than average than she was in past.
People do enjoy it when a princess or queen consort is a beauty, or at least very attractive. They do want her to represent the presumed glamour of a monarchy, to wear elegant fashions and to look very good in them. Frankly, besides producing heirs and patronizing charities, that's part and parcel of their jobs. It's a form of public relations.

Some people might think that. History suggests otherwise. Portrait painters struggled to flatter Caroline of Brunswick, Anne of Cleeves, Maria Luisa of Parma etc. In reality few ever saw royalty in the flesh and would not pass a negative opinion on their looks if asked, if they knew what was good for them.
