Question

The product of two consecutive integers is 9702. What are the two integers?

consec. integers  ---  like 10 and 11

  the product is close t the square of eace

  10^2  =  100  ....  11^2 = 121

  product = 10x11  =  110  <<<  close to and between the 2 squares ... so the integers will be 'close to' the sqyare root of the product

   sq root 9702 = 98.4987  ...  close integers are  98 and 99   .....  check  with the product

    98 X 99  =  9702  <<<  so these are the 2 consec. integers .... 98 and  99
