50 Republicans 48 democrats and 2 independent senators, how is that a democrat majority?
Looks to me like the Republicans have the majority, isn't 50 more than 48?

As others have answered, especially Bill, the Independents caucus with the Democrats and usually vote with the Democrats. In addition, the Vice President who is the President of the Senate, P. Harris is a Democrat holds the deciding vote in case of a tie. Thus, the Democrats hold the majority.

<<<50 Republicans 48 democrats and 2 independent senators, how is that a democrat majority?>>>
That is not a democrat majority.
50 senators who choose to organize as republicans, 50 senators who choose to organize as democrats, and one vice president who breaks ties in the senate and chooses to organize with the democrats, gives the democrats the majority in the senate for organizational purposes.
<<<Looks to me like the Republicans have the majority>>>There are 100 senators so it requires 51 to be a majority.<<<isn't 50 more than 48?>>>
Yes, and 51 is more than 50.

the two independents usually caucus with the Dims, thus making it 50-50 and VP Harris votes to break the tie

Because the independents, Bernie Sanders of Vermont and Angus King of Maine, caucus with the Dems.

The 2 'independents' are more socialist - than the average Democrat Senator. Bernie the commie from Vermont...And the Virginia 'Gentleman' from Maine. So a tie. VP breaks ties. Add a few 'swampy' RINOs and the urban folk have spoken more than non Socialist Americans.
Source(s): We DO have a chance to 'speak' every 2 years...But, for now, the urban voters were whipped into a frenzy by press Democrats...And non socialists did NOT SPEAK at the only poll that matters every 2 years. Enjoy the Euro/Democrat 'energy' policy for the next 2 years whenever you buy a product that is 'transported.' Or processed with energy (all of them.) - Anonymous1 month ago
You think Bernie is a republican? Liberals have the majority.

All the judges elected in my state are democrats.
