when those "wage increases" are government mandated, history shows the only ones who get rich are the politicians and bureaucrats who award themselves a bigger cut of the earnings....

Increasing wages won't make make anyone "rich". Most rich people haven't earned their wealth by a wage paid to them by someone else.
