I've been seeing this term come up lately. I wasn't aware it was a real thing. Is it just a term made up by contards?

It is not a real thing in any capacity.  It only stands to reason that there may be a small handful in the country who believe in that, but not anybody important or of influence, just flakes who are shrugged off like white supremacists.
