So the computer network knowswhich account you have. That minutes email accounts. If a computer network with dozens or hundreds of server computers?with 30000 university students and 56, 000 faculty and staff have
access to that computer network there has to be a unique email a dress and password for each account. When I was enrolled at the University of Oklahoma I had 3 different email addresses for three different server computers.

People with bad intents would access your accounts without them. Passwords at least make it more difficult.

Lots of shady and evil people out in the world stealing information. Your password protects your accounts from being stolen; to make sure the companies know that you are the legit user. That is why companies prefer if you use a complex password, to make it harder to guess.
Pretty much, a password to a profile is like your keys to your home. You don't want anyone to have access to your home, and you don't want just anyone to have access to your profile.
